In this episode of “Things They Don’t Tell You About…” millennial couples share what their cars mean to them and the advice they’ve received when buying a car, including car insurance. Financial expert Nicole Lapin also talks about the right amount of auto insurance coverage.
Talk about a time your car led to a great adventure.
-I moved here from Boston and drove from Boston to Los Angeles in a car.
-Driving the car to Vegas…
-Our honeymoon, we went to San Diego.
-That was our adventure of our car, our first adventure too.
-It caught on fire once. That was a terrible great adventure.
What is the craziest idea hatched during a long commute?
-I feel like most of our life goals have been hatched during a long commute.
-Yeah. I think I come up with the best ideas in traffic.
-I had a crazy idea. I’m like, I’m going to propose to Trish next week. I call it my cousin, driving the car. I’m like, can you help me set up a proposal with Trish next week? We followed through. Everything is good. Now, we’re married. So all in the car.
-So, marrying me is a crazy decision, OK.
Finish the sentence: The one thing I wish someone would have told me was…
- Buy a car that’s dependable. Don’t go for the glitz and glamor of things.
-I wish I knew more about the car I was buying.
-I would say coverage.
-You don’t just want standard insurance.
-Unforeseen costs. You never realize that you could be driving down the highway through a construction zone and run over nails and lose four tires, and in one day, have to pay hundreds of dollars replacing that. That’s something that you just can’t plan for.
